Hair trends are one thing – from the
polished dreadlocks and
pirate plaits on the catwalks, to retro styles, like
Victoria Beckham's Audrey Hepburn do – but what we all really crave is effortlessly sexy hair, that looks like it's naturally gorgeous – not like we've had to try too hard to re-create it.
Cue the covetable, grown-up version of beach hair. Textured, yet glossy and voluminous, it's the sort of laidback, tousled look that Kates Moss, Middleton and Beckinsale, are often snapped with.

This Spring/Summer the catwalks were awash with ultra modern makeup looks, from
theatrical glitter, to bursts of
bright colour. The trend we all actually want to wear though, is going by the name of Rustic Romance. Think fierce,
bold brows, rust eye shadow shades and gently blushed cheeks.

Take inspiration from the Jean Paul Gaultier Spring/Summer show, where small sections of hair were tightly plaited for a modern-day, pirate look.
This is a great look for the beach, when hair is likely to already have more texture than usual.
Think deluxe hippy, and combine the plaited sections, with matte – yet healthy looking – hair.
Here's How:
- Keep the plaits uneven - to avoid looking too twee.

As short, sharp hairstyles make a comeback – be prepared to
welcome the quiff.
Elegant, yet with enough hard-edged, punk references to keep it from looking too refined, – the quiff was the main hair story at the Chanel Spring/Summer Haute Couture shows, and with retro hair currently on a (rock 'n' ) roll, it is predicted to be big news for autumn/winter too.
Celebrity hair stylist
Lee Stafford says "Quiffs are great, especially if you're having a bad hair day, or just don’t have time to spend hours on your hair. They are also fabulous for all those girls who are at that messy in-between stage of growing out their fringes, or are in between highlights, as roots can make this look even quirkier."

- A quick and easy way of achieving a quiff is to backcomb the front section of your hair, spray it with loads of hairspray and then arrange into a quiff with kirby grips.

Victoria Beckham looked like she was taking inspiration from
Audrey Hepburn, at the ESPY awards in LA, last night. Her oversize sunglasses, sleek Roland Mouret dress and bouffant up do, were clearly channeling Audrey in
Breakfast at Tiffany's.
It's a classically show-stopping hair look, that is sophisticated and playful in equal measures. Don't ask me why, as Miss Golightly proclaimed, in the film, parce que je ne sais pas mon cher.
