Trend Alert: Sheer

Sheer is my big tip for next season. Whether it's a sheer shirt or a dress with sheer detailing it's a demure yet sexy look which can be easily pulled off.

Madonna has already worn the trend and it appeared on the catwalk at Chanel, Luella and countless Graduate Fashion Week shows.

It's good to see the world of fashion returning to such a grown-up style of dressing. Team a Victorian style blouse with a pencil skirt (as pictured at Chanel) or wear a dress with patches of sheer with thick black tights.

If you are big busted then avoid a high-necked blouse, instead opt for an open neck or pussy-bow tie.

On Our Radar: Luella at Urban Outfitters

I am so sorry to keep talking about Autumn, I know we haven't even had Summer yet but with the current grey skies and rain I can't help but look forward to the new season. It has just been announced that Luella will design a collection for Urban Outfitters! Isn't that the most perfect collaboration? When I found out, I couldn't believe that it hadn't been available there before.

Her Autumn collection contains plenty of must-have items including this folk-inspired bandeau dress (already seen on Alexa Chung), a maypole dress with plenty of ribbon applique and high waisted skirts. You can see the whole Luella collection here.

Her line for Urban Outfitters is rumoured to include, "paisley print prom dresses, gypsy embroidered shirts, striped Ts and studded clutches." Prices will start from £39 and it will be available both online and instore from mid-July.

Alexa Chung attended last night's Glamour Awards having been nominated for Best Presenter (sadly she lost out to Fearne Cotton). She looked stylish wearing a strapless dress from Luella A/W (she also wore Luella to the Elle Style Awards in February). She teamed it with cute patent shoe-boots and a little black bag. What do you think of her look?

Katharine Hamnett may have begun the political t-shirt movement but she is not the only designer trying to raise money/awareness for a just cause these days. Hamnett, Luella, Christian Lacroix and Betty Jackson have all designed t-shirt for EJF (Environmental Justice Foundation) featuring quirky prints. Hamnett sticked to what she knows best with a simple statement tee declaring 'Save the Future' modeled by Lily Cole. Luella created a t-shirt similar to her superhero print pictured here on Irina Lazareanu. Catherine McNeill is showing off Christian Lacroix's floral print t-shirt whilst Coco Rocha wears Betty Jackson. Prices start from £30.

I have already told you about cat print t-shirts and for Earth Day last week I showed you some of the best eco tees but when I spotted Kate Moss in this cockerel print t-shirt I couldn't resist showing you some more. There are so many great versions available and even designer versions are well under £100. You will find that the quality of cotton varies greatly but obviously the designer equivalent is the best and will hold it's shape for the longest. Sass & Bide do a great range and obviously there are the Luella prints. It's such an easy fun way to update your wardrobe. See below for more options.

Look for Less: Luella Prom Dress

The Luella prom dress is probably best known through Alexa Chung who wore a pink version of the dress to the Elle Style Awards back in February. Most of you loved it on Alexa who looked cute in the £750 Edith bustier. However, for those with a slightly tighter budget then there are other options now available.

Fabworthy: Eco T-shirts

Whilst researching for Earth Day yesterday I came across many eco t-shirts raising money for a variety of causes. A lot of them feature funky prints on a plain background which is perfect for Spring/Summer with similar styles featuring at Luella and Alexander McQueen.

I already told you about the Luella for Tonic Gen tees but there are also organic cotton tops and a fair trade 'Serene in green' t-shirt from Topshop's fairtrade collection. Team with a pretty floral skirt for the ultimate contrast, alternatively wear with jeans and a long cardigan. I love this peacock print version (£22 from fashion-conscience) but see below for further examples.

Luella's catwalk for Spring/Summer was influenced by the movie Ghost World. It featured plenty of kooky print t-shirts mixed in with some girly florals. This Batman print clutch features quirky charms and is available for £295, but is it a step too far?

Everyone loves a printed Luella t-shirt, from the fox or 'Love, Love, Love' styles of last season to the superhero prints for Spring they're a great buy and the perfect casual day staple. However, now you can not simply just buy a Luella t-shirt but also support a good cause in the process! Hoorah! Luella has designed a line of t-shirts for TonicGen which is an online store with a conscience. The tees feature prints of a stag, a robin, the sun (left) and Douglas (see below) for just £23. They're available for men and women in black and neutral. I've already ordered mine and one for Pop UK, so what are you waiting for?

On Our Radar: Luella Spring Collection Now Available

Ever since Jaime Winstone was spotted out partying in a Luella floral skirt, we've been lusting after the Spring collection. Pop UK already has her tiered Luella skirt but now the line is finally available online! Hoorah!

As always, Luella has produced a must-have printed t-shirt that will be a dressed down favourite of everybody from Lily Allen to Alexa Chung. This season it features a waving batman (£55) or an unidentified superhero (£55). There are also lots of florals from this funky prom dress (£325) to the Mary Jane collar blouse (£175). If only I could have it all!

Look for Less: Jaime Winstone at Bungalow 8

The young London crowd were out in force last night as Lily Allen, Pixie Geldof, Agyness Deyn, Jaime Winstone et al celebrated Jodie Harsh's 24th Birthday at Bungalow 8.

Jaime Winstone looked great (if not a little risque) in her Luella skirt, lingerie cami top and blazer. It seems that blazer is the item du jour! I love the Luella skirt but if you're looking for something a little cheaper then there are plenty of High Street options including the one below from Urban Outfitters. Topshop also do a great version but it's currently out of stock online.

Her cami top looks cute but it can be a bit too daring for most people so why not layer a cami top over a plain black vest? The sheer style was all over the catwalk and was spotted on Madonna earlier in the week.

British designer Luella Bartley has teamed up with activewear label O'Neill to create a collection of surfer inspired clothing for Summer 2008. The line includes plaid shirts, dresses, shorts and dungarees all at High Street prices. There is also printed swimwear which is now on my holiday wish list. What do you think of the collection? London Fashion Week, Autumn/Winter 2008: Luella

Valentine's Day has proved to be a big day for London Fashion Week from the opening show by Asprey to the closing with a highly anticipated return from Vivienne Westwood. The second show of the day was by celebrity-favourite Luella. This season was not short on support with an A-list front row including Kelly Osbourne and Lily Allen. When looking at Luella's Autumn/Winter collection it's easy to see why she's so popular. Her clothes are the perfect combination of feminine, fun and modern.

This season the collection was heavily inspired by folklore with cute embroidery detail, rainbow ribbon and puff sleeve shirts. Navy blue and orange were key colours proving that bright colours are here for another season and that navy is definitely the colour du jour. Body con dresses with ice skating skirts were made softer with bright coloured clogs and stitched patterns. Accessories were kept big with applique and metal hardware.

All the models had crimped hair and many wore pointed elf-like hoods. Does this herald the return of big hair?
