Karl <a href="http://www.wwd.com/fashion-news/lagerfelds-silent-film-homage-to-coco-chanel-1872981?src=nl/mornReport/20081201#/" target="_blank">told WWD</a>, “Today, people are ready for silent movies again, as they spend time — hours, I would say — looking at text messages and e-mails. I always loved silent movies.”</p> <p>As Karl is very protective of the clothes he didn't want just anybody starring in the movie. Instead he chose from his close entourage including Brad Koenig and his bodyguard/private secretary Sébastien Jondeau. The actual workers from Chanel atelier star in the movie as Karl doesn't trust extras ("I cannot take extras. I'm intrigued by the plans and although it may seem like a difficult move for Ford, I don't think he would give any project less than 120%. Now, over six months later details for the release of the collection are finally being revealed.</p> <p>Speaking to <a href="http://www.vogue.co.uk/news/daily/081021-peaches-on-ppq-capsule-collection.aspx" target="_blank">Vogue</a> Peaches explained, "Designing for PPQ has been fun and inspiring. I love that my collection came out exactly as I wanted, blending new romanticisim with gothic undertones."</p> <p>The capsule collection includes little black lace dresses, tops and high waisted tapered trousers also a handbag complete with everything you need for a night out. </p> <p>Since <a href="http://uk.popsugar.com/2387872" >Sunday night's episode of Disappear Here</a> I'm sceptical about anything she undertakes but the range will hit Selfridges later this month with prices ranging from £95 to £195. Garrard is most famous for providing Princess Diana engagement ring. </p> <p>Chapman is designing a collection that will be revealed at New York Fashion Week next September – possibly accessorising the Marchesa Spring 2010 line. It will interestingly be titled 'Georgina Chapman for Garrard' rather than Marchesa for Gerrard. Prices are expected to range from $10,000 to $15,000. </p> <p>Chapman stated, I’ve always had an interest in jewellery. I have a few pieces of jewellery, but I’m by no means Elizabeth Taylor.”</p> <p>This news is particularly intriguing as Chapman appears to be distancing herself slightly from business partner Keren Craig. The book is incredibly well researched and reveals truths about Yves Saint Laurent and Karl Lagerfeld. Despite the latter coming off better, it seems it isn't exactly top of his Summer read recommendations. </p> <p>Lagerfeld is cagey about the past even famously lying about his age so it's not a huge surprise that he is unhappy about the publication of this book. Following it's success in the UK, Drake wants to release the book in France (where much of the action is set) but Lagerfeld isn't happy about this and has labeled the writer 'Drake-ula'. </p> <p>He <a href="http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/europe/article4795019.ece" target="_blank">described the book to Nouvel Observateur magazine,</a> “It’s a rubbish book by a mediocrity with the testimonies of a bunch of losers, most often ones that I fired,” and complained directly to Drake that it's “more based on suppositions and improvised conclusions than on truth”.</p> <p>Abel Gerschenfeld, Drake’s editor at the Denoël publishing house, is concerned as the book begins to be analysed by Lagerfeld's lawyers. “I don’t know what to expect. But I hope it’s not a lawsuit. It was rescued by a consortium of Norwegian investors including film producer John Joakim.</p> <p>Both designers have vowed to take a more hands-on approach to the new business. For Celine, which is a bit more sophisticated as a brand, the fit is very good in terms of her style, her personality and where she is in terms of her own development.”</p> <p>He went on to explain why he thinks it is also a wonderful match for Celine.<br /> <blockquote>“In the current climate customers are looking for something that will get them interested and excited about buying again. Why then do the world famous Queens guards still wear unethical bearskin hats? <a href="http://www.peta.org/" target="_blank">People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)</a> have made fresh calls for an ethical alternative to bearskin to be used for the 18inch high headwear. They have asked Stella McCartney and Vivienne Westwood to get to work at creating an alternative design.</p> <p>The Ministry of Defence have already tried using faux-fur but did not find it effective because the material has not been durable or weatherproof enough. The European director of PETA Robbie Le Blanc defended the plans for a new design stating that it could still become iconic. He <a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/7590705.stm" target="_blank">told the BBC,</a> "Most people think it's fake fur and when they find out it's real and it takes one bear to make a hat, they are appalled."</p> <p>Even Ricky Gervais is getting in on the campaign. Speaking to WWD he said,"Since my college days the V&amp;A has been a treasure trove of inspiration. The close friend of Stella McCartney and wife of vegetarian Chris Martin seems like a surprising choice for a company that uses not just fur but also ostrich and snakeskin in its products. Tod's describes itself as "refined, understated luxury, impeccable taste and enviable quality." They also benefited from the strength of the euro as Gap sales fall by 10%. </p> <p>Zara was one of the first stores to offer quick fashion within a few weeks of it appearing on the catwalk and they say this is core to their success. He added that, "There are thousands of models like all other models. Naomi Campbell is the same way."
