These Urban Outfitters Kill City Marble Wash Jeans ($78) may look funky at first glance, but I'm all about the potential. These jeans remind me of a Balmain look from the Spring shows. Like Balmain, I would wear these with heels and a leather jacket, but I'm not sure if I should take the '80s plunge.

Last weekend's kite-flying date was filled with windy, outdoor fun. I definitely wasn't up to par with The Kite Runner, but I gave my best effort. Don't worry, I didn't make a complete fool out of myself.

Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey enjoyed time on the beach on the 4th of July, and while Jim looked pretty good in his woman's bathing suit, she was hotter in her Scoop Beach Smocked Dress ($365). It comes with a rope belt but Jenny opted to remove it for the beach. Unlike many other ombre maxis, this one is silk so it's wearable in dressy situations.

This dress, which FabSugar noted took tie-dye from hippie to hip, is from Matthew Williamson's Spring '08 collection. While tie-dye is nearly synonymous with hippies, the craft of tie dying predates Woodstock by centuries. Some tie-dye techniques and traditions include Japanese Shibori, Indian Bandhani, and African tie-dye.
