Just hearing the word 'jumpsuit' is enough for most people to run for cover and denounce fashion for a lifetime. Knowing this it's not easy to break the trend news to you about the evening jumpsuit, however, it has already made at least three appearances on the red carpet! Last night Fearne Cotton wore a gorgeous black silk jumpsuit for androgynous chic at the
Cosmopolitan Women of the Year Awards.

On Monday, the latest
Celia Birtwell for Topshop collection hit stores across the UK. The collection includes pretty blouses, jumpsuits and dresses all, of course, adorned with her gorgeous, classic prints.
Jumpsuits are a relatively new addition to the capsule collection available in
short length (£75) and
full length. Personally, I think the shorter length would be more flattering on me but I still can't decide if I like it or not.

The
jumpsuit has been trying to wriggle it's way on to the fashion radar for some time and recently thanks to the penchant for wide legged trousers it's just about managed it. The least practical of all fashion items can look surprisingly chic and sophisticated as both of these lovely ladies show. Gwyneth Paltrow wore a Stella McCartney tailored jumpsuit back in May when she was busy promoting Iron Man and now Maggie Gyllenhaal has worn a looser fitting style at
The Dark Knight premiere. Who do you think wears a Stella McCartney jump suit better?

Speaking of
shaking your groove thang, Sarah Jessica Parker showed up to the Late Show With David Letterman wearing a sophisticated black strapless jumpsuit. She kept her accessories simple in order to draw more attention to the great jumpsuit. Smart!

I've never been a fan of jumpsuits and this
Marciano Bridget Jumpsuit ($248) lets me see why. They're unflattering and cheesy —especially when they have a loud print. I mean, why would you voluntarily pay that much to look like a walking fashion disaster?

A jumpsuit is a daring piece to pull off, but both
Heidi Klum and
Jennifer Hudson were gutsy enough to wear Michael Kors's black-strapless version. Heidi opted for a wide belt and simple jewels, while Jennifer kept her belt slimmer and bling bolder. Who do you think wore it better?

Want to emulate Rollergirl from
Boogie Nights for
Halloween, but a little hesitant to wear her hot pants? This
70s denim haltertop jumpsuit, $129, is your ticket. Accessorize with a fun disco diva gold belt, dangly earrings, your trusty rollerskates, and get ready to groove!

Dear Eve: we get it, you're fierce, but do you always have to dress out of the ordinary and wear leopard print? This silk jumpsuit resembles Hugh Hefner's jammies but I do, however, want to steal her black leather tie-belt! Love it or hate it?

I don't know what's more mind-boggling; the fact that this
Stella McCartney Fine Knit Jumpsuit was created or that it's priced at a whopping $1,595 dollars! I wouldn't dish out $20 for it much less over a thousand. And
fuchsia?

Sarah Michelle Gellar showed up at the launch of Harrods' Summer sale in London portraying two swiftly different looks. In her Marni
asymmetrical off-white coat she looks sharp and timeless. Underneath it, her satin taupe jumpsuit oozes youthfulness and trendiness.
