I'm sure I'm not alone in stating that Luella is one of my favourite designers. Her
Autumn '08 show was amazing and now that the clothes have actually hit stores I am even more excited! I love the folky feel of the pieces and have been desperately searching out a cheaper version of the
Caroline plaid skirt to no avail.

Personally I think that French Connection is a bit of an unsung hero of the High Street shoe world. I never really consider it when seeking out a new pair of heels but when I stumbled upon this pair of t-bar sandals I could not ignore them!
The
Juno sandal (£100) features tiny studs and peep-toe detail.

Last week I
told you about Alexander McQueen's plans to sell a collection straight off the runway on net-a-porter.com. The show took place last night at 5pm and the items are now available to buy.
These included a gorgeous androgynous
white pinstripe jumpsuit and this amazing
little black dress (£995).

You don't have to spend loads of money on a designer handbag to get a stylish daytime tote. This Autumn there are plenty of good bags available on the High Street, you just have to seek them out a little! I know many of you were left impressed by
Laura Ashley's handbag offering (which is now available by the way) so I couldn't resist sharing this find too.

Following
New York Fashion Week, fashion
editors were heralding the return of the skirt, particuarly after
Marc Jacobs appeared in an a-line skirt at a party.
Whilst I love skirts, the main problem is that they take more thought to wear than dresses, since you also have to coordinate them with a top. You could only imagine how happy I was to discover the rise of the two-for-one dress in which a skirt and a top are sneakily sewn together!

This season it's all about the details and when it comes to shoes, it's all in the detail on the heels. Giuseppe Zanotti has made the ultimate disco boots with these
mirror heeled ankle boots (£565).
They have a 5inch stiletto heel but also a hidden platform meaning that they shouldn't feel as high as they look.

We're pretty accustomed to rain here in Blighty. Even though it's late August we're still experiencing April showers and learning how to dress for this weather is never easy.
An umbrella is a handbag essential here in the UK but I can never seem to remember where I left mine, perhaps I need one for every handbag in order to co-ordinate!

Many of you were quite taken with
Fearne Cotton's lace bolero earlier in the week so I suspect you might be excited to see this
lace and sequin cardigan by Frank Usher (£60).
This Autumn is
all about lace preferably in a gothic style. The easiest (and often cheapest) way to achieve this trend is with a lace shirt or blouse which you can probably dig out in your local charity shop or at your local market.

Although at times it may feel like it, Summer is not over yet! There are still a few weeks of August left and I'm already hearing hopeful whispers of an Indian Summer. This means there is still time to update your swimwear collection!

There's a buzz of excitement in the fashion world right now as Jane Shepherdson embarks on her biggest project since leaving Topshop. She shaped what we wore for many years and placed Topshop firmly on the fashion map so we can't wait to see what she is going to do at Whistles.
Despite once being a hot shop for fashion fans it slumped slightly throughout the nineties but all that's about to change.
