On Our Radar: Peaches Geldof to Launch Magazine

Peaches Geldof has decided to take her journalism career in to her own hands with the launch of a new quarterly magazine entitled 'Disappear Here'. The publication is about music, fashion, film, literature and "all pop youth culture".

Peaches has often spoken of her desire to be a journalist and has presented several documentaries so it's not surprising that she has put the wheels in motion for 'Disappear Here' which she will be Editor-at-large of.

The magazine is set to launch before the end of the year but what do you think of the plans? Would you be interested to read a style magazine that was edited by Peaches?

Argh. I really wish wealthy kids would stop thinking they're more clever than they are. I'm so tired of having heirs/heiresses getting a 'job' as DJ, journalist, writer, singer, etc. It's unfair and insulting for the real talented people who never get what they deserve, and it's horrible for the poor audience (us) who have to face their so-called talent.

Ugh this magazine thing makes me so angry!

Wasn't she supposed to go to uni and study journalism? She just thought she'd skip all that and just create her own mag. I know what you mean Advah - I'm working my arse off at uni trying to get into journalism and trying to find a decent placement (which are like gold dust. And then there's this little twit... Grrr!

i think peaches has an amazing sense of style but then again she is only famous becuase of her father and sham marriage. i would buy the first issue of the magazine just to see if it was good. then if it was a good read then i would continue to buy it.

    (:

She's 19 and as far as I know, has no qualifications that would ever put her in that position if she weren't famous. I agree with the others who say this hardly seems fair to those who do actually work hard to get into journalism. Also, I fail to see how she could actually create anything of quality- she'll probably just get her famous mates to appear in it.

The MTV programme last night highlighted what a pretentious, spoilt, talentless little brat peaches is.

She wanted to create an alternative, underground feel "like you know, all underground and alternative like - that's my manifesto, erm, you know"

So, what groundbreaking cutting edge talent did she unearth? Mark Ronson, The Charlatans, Vivien Westwood, Dirty Pretty Things! Heheh - my 13 year only nephew from Burnley knows more about new, alternative, underground talent than that.

The bit that sums her up perfectly was when interviewing Tim Burgess,
she said "yah, thats a good question, where did you get the The Charlatans name from" FFS!! They have only been around for the past 15 years. Is that the best question you can come up with you talentless waste of space.

Peaches the best thing you can do is realise you are not important or relevant. Just because you have read a few books, have famous parents and hang around with 'people' doesn't make you so.

She has stolen the idea from Bret Elis's book Less than Zero, which is a brilliant book, because she is so stupid she can't make her own ideas. She thinks it will be a different magazine unlike the other style and celebrity orientated ones but it will be the same garbage, she is not not alternate, like she thinks she is, but is an idiotic little girl and is the epitome of commercialism. She is stupid and the only reason she has these oportunities is because she has a famous dad, whilst people who do actually have talent don'tget these chances.

    This is awful.
I am studying a Masters in Magazine Journalism at the moment studing furiously hard learning about news writing feature writing, media law, public amdin, short hand, sub editing, the business of magazines, digital media as well as being lectured by some of the top people in the industry.

It is disgusting that an uneducated wannabe like Peaches should be handed a job she is no where near qualified to do. The kind of job people work years to score.

It is a magazine that will never get taken seriously.

I would have respect for her is she had actually studied to be a journalist properly. She seems to think that because she has been handed this opportunity (based on her fame) that she has somehow qualified.
