Today celebrated menswear designer Hedi Slimane celebrates his fortieth birthday. The Parisian born designer who essentially reinvented menswear began his working life at Yves Saint Laurent in 1997 when he was appointed by Pierre Bergé. Slimane really made his name at Dior Homme where fans including David Bowie, Brad Pitt and Karl Lagerfeld. He left Dior in February 2007 because he did not want to lose his creative freedom and has since been working on his own projects, rumour has it that might include a womenswear line!
