Rolling Stone Keith Richards is the latest unlikely star of the Louis Vuitton advertising campaign. Following previous campaigns involving Mikhail Gorbachev, Catherine Deneuve and tennis deities Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf. The Richards campaign shows the aged-rocker in an untidy hotel room looking less than glamorous with messy hair and smudged make-up.
Antoine Arnault is head of communications for Vuitton and spoke to WWD about the shoot.

"We thought it was important to continue with someone unexpected...I think when people are flipping through a magazine, this will stop them."

The images are shot by iconic photographer Annie Leibovitz which is part of the reason for Richards agreeing to the campaign. He donated a portion of his fee to The Climate Project, an environmental charity.
The tagline on the ad reads, "Some journeys cannot be put into words," but what do you think about the campaign? Is it too gritty for a brand so heavily associated with glamour?

While Keith may look "gritty" his rock royalty status affords him quite a luxurious lifestyle, so I wouldn't think its too far off to assume he would have LV luggage. I'm sure besides the "unexpected" angle, LV ad execs were hoping the association would bring them some rock n roll cool points.

LV is getting desperate! All of those singers (mostly) think packing in the LV's upgrade their status & respectablility, but when you drag 5 - 20 pieces of those through the airports (as I have seen numerous times), it just looks tacky & expresses a need for the "star" to reasses their imagined "greatness." I hate these LV's, real & fake, because they are all over the place. I feel they've genuinely lost their luxury goods moniker.
